FAB Ferments: “Foods with Culture”

HEALTHYFOODIE
Here’s something exotic (at least to me) that’s healthy as all-get-out, tasty and supports a local food business (& therefore helps you be a locavore). Look for FAB Ferments products at many of our area’s farmers markets. Cincinnati natives Jennifer De Marco and Jordan Aversman (pictured here at the Northside Market) make and sell lacto-fermented veggie products such as German-style sauerkraut with caraway, kimchi, spicy dill and curry krauts.
Check out their website for info about why lacto-fermented foods are so good for us. Then look for Jennifer and Jordan not only at the Northside Market but all around town–for instance, at Whole Foods in Hyde Park, Findlay Market downtown and the farmers markets in West Chester and College Hill.

Fabulous Ferments Products
FAB Ferments is a small business selling raw organic lacto-fermented veggies such as sauerkraut, kimchi, spicy dill kraut and curry ginger carrots.  Fermented foods are very beneficial to your health.  They contain good bacteria that aid in digestion as well as help boost the immune system and increase metabolism.  Fermented veggies have been enjoyed for thousands of years by cultures all around the world.

Cincinnati Natives Jennifer De Marco and Jordan Aversman have studied the traditional diets and have created many authentic dishes.  Their krauts ferment for 3-4 weeks in stoneware crocks.  They do not use whey or vinegar but sea salts, organic veggies and spices.  Stop by and sample their products.

Shop the Farm Market in College Hill every Thursday through October in the Presbyterian Church parking lot from 3 to 6:30 pm.
